Security for diamonds as a tangible asset is paramount in all respects, which is why the wholesaler has developed an extensive security.
system to rule out the purchase of imitations and to guarantee the high quality of the diamonds: Selection of suppliers.
We only work with suppliers who adhere to global trading standards and codes and guarantee that all diamonds come from conflict-free sources. The non-conflict nature of rough diamonds is verified by a special certificate, the Kimberley Certificate. This is a certification scheme adopted by the UN General Assembly, to which 81 states, including all relevant trading nations and producing countries, now belong.
Bid review and selection of diamonds
Lists of available diamonds are drawn up by the suppliers. In the first step, the wholesaler identifies the diamonds that match in size and quality. The certificate issuers then check whether they have issued the certificates with the specified numbers and compare the values from the list of offers with the certificate data at the certificate issuer. This data from the certificates or the offer lists are fed into a database, which calculates further key figures and quality coefficients. These serve as a decision criterion as to whether the diamonds are suitable for purchase. Only diamonds with a certificate from a recognized gemological
laboratory are purchased. Only diamonds with a certificate from one of the three renowned institutes are accepted: Gemological Institute of America (GIA) or Hoge Raad voor Diamant (HRD). Gemological certificates document the essential quality characteristics of a diamond. The certificate issuers check the stones for authenticity, classify them according to color and clarity, assess the execution of the cut and the surface polishing as well as the symmetry, and record these values together with weight and shape in the certificate. The leading certifiers also verify that diamonds have not been treated through special processes to enhance color and clarity.
