Amazing benefits of weight training: It prevents cancer!

By now we already know that any type of workouts is beneficial for health. In general, any kind of movement is better than lying on the couch. In fact, if exercise were a pill, it would be a pill that all doctors in all parts of the world should prescribe. But unfortunately, exercise is not a pill and it takes effort and some time to do it. So given this scenario, it is not surprising that most people prefer to take a pill rather than start physical activity.

And yes, physical exercise like 4 day split dumbbell workout can be an excellent treatment for many of the diseases that threaten us today. And that’s precisely today’s topic, the amazing benefits of weight training. As I have already said, any physical activity if you implement it correctly will be positive, but working with resistance is one of the best activities you can do, and in my personal opinion, the best.

Weight training prevents cancer

We already know that cancer is one of the most devastating diseases we have today. But one of the things we fear most about cancer is because we don’t really know why it occurs. Yes, we know that if we smoke we are more likely to have lung cancer, but that does not mean that if you do not smoke you will not have it. So we always have that uncertainty there, and although weight training is not going to remove that uncertainty, there is some evidence that cancer is not such a random disease and that it is linked to the lifestyle we lead.

For example, obesity is the main risk factor for cancer. It is said that obesity is responsible for 14% of cancer deaths in men and 20% in women, which are not exactly small numbers. And furthermore, these data are from 2003, so I am inclined to think that today, with more obesity, the figures are even higher. But that’s not all, the American Cancer Research Institute says that 1 in 3 cancer cases are related to obesity, poor diet or lack of physical activity. In short, our lifestyle.

That is why physical condition has an inverse relationship with dying from cancer. In this study it is said that the risk of mortality from cancer was dramatically reduced by increasing physical condition. So your fitness is a determining factor to increase or decrease your chances of having cancer. But this does not tell us that weight training has any incidence with respect to cancer, because this only tells us about the state of form, which was something to expect. But in a study from the Cooper Center in Dallas, which is a center renowned for its emphasis on aerobic and resistance training, 8,677 men between the ages of 20 and 82 were studied and followed from 1980 to 2003. The researchers quantified their maximum strength on the bench press and leg press, and then the men were divided into 3 groups based on that strength. For the group in the middle compared to the group with the least strength was 35% less likely to suffer from cancer and the strongest group compared to the weakest was 40% less likely. What’s more, after comparing other “fitness” indicators that are also correlated with cancer, such as body fat levels, waist circumference and cardiorespiratory capacity, they determined that muscle strength was the most influential factor of all. And that is given by training with loads, for example 4 day dumbbell workout.

So…are you now interested in weigh training?
